PAULA WAGNER BRIAN |
Director BRIAN DE PALMA has a distinguished body of work, proving himself adept at many genres, from classic suspense thrillers such as "Carrie," "The Fury," "Dressed to Kill" and "Body Double," to the battlefield drama of "Casualties of War" and the gangster epics "Scarface" and "The Untouchables," which won Sean Connery an Oscar® for best supporting actor. Born in Newark, New Jersey, De Palma was raised in Philadelphia. His first full-length movie, "The Wedding Party," starred newcomers Jill Clayburgh and Robert De Niro. De Palma attracted initial attention with the 1968 counter-culture comedy "Greetings." Its sequel, "Hi, Mom!," was released two years later. His first major studio film was "Get to Know Your Rabbit," then De Palma turned his hand to suspense with "Sisters," followed by the rock satire-thriller "Phantom of the Paradise." His other films include "Home Movies," "Blowout," "Obsession," "Wise Guys," "Bonfire of the Vanities" and, most recently, "Carlito's Way" and "Raising Cain." |
