In 1993, Long returned as Diane for the historical final episode of "Cheers," the series in which she starred opposite Ted Danson for five seasons. While on "Cheers," Long won an Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards for her portrayal of Diane. In February of 1996, Long reprised her memorable character again, guest-starring on an episode of "Frasier," opposite Kelsey Grammer.
Long has starred in several motion pictures, including "Night Shift," "Irreconcilable Differences," "The Money Pit," "Outrageous Fortune," "Hello Again" and "Troop Beverly Hills." She was named the "ShoWest Female Star of the Year" for her series of comedic roles on the big screen.

Long grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In high school, she appeared in various plays and successfully competed in speech contests, becoming the first woman in twenty years to win the National Forensic League's original oratory competition. While majoring in drama at Northwestern University, Long starred in several theatrical productions, including "A Man For All Seasons," "Ghosts" and the WAA-MU Show.
Long became a local Chicago personality as a spokeswoman on television commercials. Simultaneously, she worked as a writer-director-producer of industrial and educational films. These successes led her to become the co-host and associate producer of the acclaimed NBC Chicago magazine show, "Sorting It Out," for which she won three local Emmy Awards. Eventually returning to her first passion, acting, Long joined Chicago's famed Second City improvisational troupe to further hone her skills.
Long and her husband, Bruce Tyson, reside in Los Angeles with their daughter Juliana.
