PATRICK McGOOHAN

PATRICK McGOOHAN (The Phantom's Father) takes on the duty of spirit guide to his son, returning from the past to carefully counsel him in the future.

His recent portrayal of King Edward I in Mel Gibson's Paramount Pictures film, "Braveheart," won Mr. McGoohan much critical praise. He has also been seen in "Of Pure Blood," "Brass Target," "Jamaica Inn," "Baby...Secret of the Lost Legend," "The Man In the Iron Mask," "Dam Busters," "Silver Streak," "Mary, Queen of Scots," "Ice Station Zebra," "The Three Lives of Thomasina," "All Night Long," and "Escape From Alcatraz."

Born in New York, he eventually settled in Sheffield, England, where he became first a stage manager and then an actor appearing in 180 stage productions, including the Orson Welles-directed "Moby Dick" in London's West End, and Hugh Whitemore's "Pack of Lies" on Broadway.

McGoohan became a household name in the United States when he created the role of John Drake in the long-running series "Secret Agent" (called "Danger Man" on British television). He later starred in the classic series, "The Prisoner," which he also executive produced, some episodes of which he wrote and directed. Other Hollywood television appearances included numerous "Columbo" specials, some of which he also wrote and directed.

Only Billy Zane as The Phantom appears in scenes featuring Patrick McGoohan. "He gives me fatherly advice that any parent would share with his son," says Zane. "And that's what's so charming. Patrick brings the perfect balance between strength and sweetness. It creates a very endearing relationship."
